About Shelf Life

"Let us remember: One book, one pen, one child, and one teacher can change the world." ~Malala Yousafzi.

Mary retired from teaching at an elementary school, and currently volunteers one day a week there.
She began her journey as a struggling songwriter in Nashville, but after a few unsuccessful years, she returned to New Jersey.

Mary later wrote and performed stand-up comedy at Stand-Up New York in NYC and in several competitions in the tri-state area with the Bud Light Ladies of Laughter. The common thread of writing led her to the University of Tampa for an MFA in Creative Writing. When the program closed, she continued her studies at Queens University of Charlotte. Mary’s completed thesis, Sum of Loss, is her first book.

Shelf Life will engage readers with a diverse range of literary fiction, literary nonfiction, and historical fiction. As an author platform, I will recommend books on craft that have been valuable to me and share writing through a monthly newsletter. Through initiatives with Shelf Life, I will continue to support literacy by purchasing new books for children in a local Title 1 school and will encourage readers to do the same in their communities.
